Description

Pair of vintage (or possibly antique) low wingback chairs/ nursing chairs/ lounge chairs etc made somewhere between 1920 and 1940 we think. Elegantly flared backs with wing sides, low seats and wooden oak feet. Upholstered at some point in a yellow fabric. Being hand made they're not exactly the same: one is a little deeper, front-to-back than the other, while the other one has a slightly higher seat. Near as damn it a match though. Condition is pretty good structurally: they're solid enough and the upholstery is quite firm; one seat a little more used than the other (hence the centimetre or so difference in height). Cosmetically they're somewhat lived-in, shall we say..the fabric is rather faded in places, or worn with some pilling here and there. It's a bit fragile at the top back and the piping is loose and frayed in a couple of places (see pics). The lining under the bottom is torn. The wooden feet are a bit scuffed and one foot has maybe two old worm holes (we've treated it just in case), While ideally they'd be re-upholstered (and they merit that), they're not as bad as the picture I paint; they are very usable as found, if you like a sort of worn stately home look, and with some clever cushion accents they'd look grand. Priced for the condition, of course.. Price is for the two. Dimensions: 70cm wide x 79/82cm x 102cm high (seat heights 38/36cm)
